GET YOUR TICKETS FOR CASINO DAY NOVEMBER 20
This January, Scott McDonald is taking on an incredible challenge — running the entire length of the Baja Peninsula, from Mexicali to Cabo San Lucas, a journey of nearly 1,000 miles. His goal is to obtain the Fastest Known Time (FKT). But this run isn’t just about endurance. It’s about purpose.
Scott is running to raise funds for Club Las Amigas, a nonprofit organization that supports education in the fishing town of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. His goal is to help raise money to purchase a dependable school bus for one of the local schools, helping children get to school safely each day.
In many communities, students walk long distances to reach their classrooms. A reliable school bus will make a world of difference for the students and their families.
You can help make this vision a reality by pledging a donation toward Scott’s 1,000-mile run. Every mile he runs brings us one step closer to giving these kids a safe ride to school.
Donate now on GoFundMe.
100% of funds raised will go directly to Club Las Amigas, a 501(c) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Where is this run taking place?
The run will span the entire length of Baja California. This is approximately 1,500 kilometers (939 miles), beginning at the Mexico–U.S. border in Mexicali and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, following the main highways along the way. The goal is to complete this journey within one month.
How many miles will Scott run each day?
He will run an ultramarathon each day, which is approximately 30-40 miles or 50KM every day for a month. For reference, a marathon is 26.2 miles. You can view his tentative daily route to follow along.
What is an FKT?
Fastest Known Time. It is confirmed by recording a route while following established criteria, to maintain credibility, consistency and integrity. A certified organization verifies, records, and catalogues the achievements. By regulation, the project will GPS-tracked.
Will there be a support crew?
Yes, Scott will have a crew with him during the entire course. They will be ready to provide aid, logistics, and support on a moment-by-moment basis.
