We had over 100 students show up for our ice cream social at Escuela Tecnica and Escuela Amistad. We also had a great turnout this year of sponsors who had the opportunity to meet their student. This year, we asked students to share with us "What Club Las Amigas means to them." Here are a few of the responses:
"Club Las Amigas helps me become a better student, and makes sure I have everything I need to accomplish my studies."
"For me, Club Las Amigas means a lot, because you're working so hard to help us, and I really appreciate your efforts. Thank you for your help."
"Club Las Amigas is a help and support that helped me, my parents, and my sisters a lot. And I am very gradeful for the people who made this help possible."
"For me, it will be a pleasure to meet the people who bought my uniform and my breakfast."
This year, Club Las Amigas volunteered to help with the annual Cancer Walk. We had the pleasure of volunteering at the registration table and helping to sell raffle tickets to raise funds for the San Felipe Cancer Center.
It was a pleasure to support our community and join forces with the San Felipe Rotary, the Lion's Club and other organizations in San Felipe for an important cause.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Casino! What a fun day to help make dreams come true for local San Felipe students!! Thank you to the Lions Club San Felipe, B.C. Mexico volunteers who helped deal, shuffle cards, and serve cocktails, and to the Rotary Club of San Felipe for helping us tear down. Special thanks to Pedro Rodelas for providing the perfect selection of music to entertain us, and to Juanito's Restaurante for the fabulous food. We are also incredibly grateful for all the local businesses and community members who contributed to our wonderful prize selection this year! We couldn’t pull off this event without all the amazing support of this community! Thank you!
In December, Club Las Amigas hosted a University Brunch at Rositas Restaurant, bringing together 14 current and past scholarship recipients.
The morning was filled with meaningful reflections as the recipients shared cherished memories of San Felipe and their aspirations for the future.
Their stories highlighted the deep connections to their roots, revolving around themes of community, the beach, family, and friendships.
It was a beautiful celebration of dreams inspired by a strong sense of place and belonging.
Escuela Técnica, one of the local secundaria schools, received much needed medical equipment for the school’s nurse’s office thanks to the generosity of one of our Club Las Amigas members, Sharon Rhodes.
The crutches, wheelchairs, and medical equipment will provide students with access to better care and support when they need it most. It’s moments like these that remind us how a single act of kindness can change lives.
Club Las Amigas would like to thank COTUCO San Felipe for the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Snow Birds Fest.
If you missed us, you can always find our table at the Swap Meet on Saturdays. We have our Tide & Event Calendars, San Felipe Memories Quilt Raffle Tickets, and our Gifts with a Purpose holiday catalog. 100% of proceeds go back into the community to help local students stay in school.

Club Las Amigas held the annual ice cream social at Escuela Secundaria Tecnica, and Escuela Secundaria Amistad. This is an opportunity for the 173 students in our program to meet their sponsors. This year we hosted the event with ice cream, cookies, cupcakes, and other yummy treats. Students worked together to complete a collaborative poster project in which each student colored one piece of the poster. The posters were given to the principals at each school to hang in the office.
Club Las Amigas members volunteered to help with the 2024 Cancer Walk. Lots of beautiful items were donated by local businesses and community members with all auction items benefitting our local Cancer Center. Club Las Amigas was happy to once again volunteer our time in support of this important local event and cause.

Club Las Amigas would like to thank everyone in attendance at our annual luncheon. It was a beautiful International Women's Day celebration. We were honored to have one of our first university scholarship recipients, Rosa Elia Gonzalez share her story about the importance of education in her life. We also enjoyed music by local musician, Gisella Romero throughout the event. As well, the First Municipal Lady of San Felipe graced us with her attendance. Thank you all for a beautiful afternoon. Club Las Amigas sends out a huge thanks to Sr. Tony Reyes and his wonderful crew, who took the winners of our Shoreline Cruise Raffle and their guests out for the day on the beautiful waters of the Sea of Cortez. The weather was warm and the water was calm which made for a smooth ride. Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. Proceeds from the raffle went to the club's university scholarship fund.
The International Women's Day Tea was a wonderful event. Jeannie would like to send her appreciation for all the beautiful efforts for the tea. It bespoke the true nature of women to create beauty in our community.
Our Casino was a Full House! Thank you to all who attended our Casino at the Ejido Social on March 16th! We couldn't have put on the event without help from our community volunteers. Thank you all for sharing your time, skills & prize donations: Lions Club members, friends & family, local businesses. All monies raised will go to our club's college scholarship fund.
Club Las Amigas extends their appreciation to Sergio Leon Cuevas from San Felipe Hiking Adventures, and Jose Luis Galindo Morales from Saving Turtles Sea Cortez, for volunteering their time to our fundraiser, Discover Baja.
CLub Las Amigas would like to extend their great appreciation to the local chapter of Lions Club for the recent $1,000.00 donation. The monies will go a long way in supporting our efforts to assist local students with their financial education needs. Muchas Muchas Gracias.
